This week, Kabosh will be performing a series of pieces in Limavady called “1 in 5″. Kabosh is a unique company in that it uses community and other settings – non-theatre space, if you will – for its performances.

This week, the company is using the former hospital now community centre in Limavady, a place of death and misery if ever there was one. This is no reflection on the current inhabitants, more on its past use as a workhouse.

So, “1 in 5″ then: “Journey through the Limavady workhouse; meet ghosts of the past alongside invisible people of today. An eclectic mix of provocative characters will shock, charm, entertain and inform from the nooks and crannies of this historical site.”

Today, I took some snaps to document the plays as they put the final touches to the pieces in rehearsal. If you’re passing, do try and catch this remarkable work/works. The beauty of snapping rehearsals like these is that you get a taste of what’s coming – and it’s pretty good. Tickets are £7-£10 and available from the Arts Centre in Limavady (028 777 60650)

Enjoy the snaps – they’re a bit dark – like the building itself, and the lighting – and intriguing, so if you want to know the context in which they were taken, you’ll have to see the show.
